Mr.PG
Mr. PG is a statue located in the middle of Prince George. He is placed at the junction of Highway 97 and
Highway 16. He is 8 metres tall, and his head is 1.5 metres in diameter!
Mr. PG was first built in 1960. Mr. PG has a time capsule in him, and people put a lot of things in it. For example, there are things like travel guides, postcards, community newsletters, a radio broadcast cassette tape, newspaper articles and a letter from the mayor of that time.People come from near and far to see the statue. He is our pride and joy, after all.
Mr. PG was made as a symbol for forestry companies. He is also our town mascot.
Mr. PG has no one else like him. Although, there are little statues of him for people to put on shelves and show off their love for Mr. PG. there`s also a statue flying around the world to show people how awesome this city is.
Mr. PG used to be made of spruce wood, but he rotted out, and had to be made again. This time, he was made with sheets of metal and fibreglass painted to look like wood. He has a yellow hard hat and holds a hand painted aluminum flag. Hopefully, he`ll last longer.
